What is Career Counseling?

Career Counseling helps students discover their true potential and interests in various subjects to help them choose the right career. Career counseling also helps students gain awareness about their personal interests, talents and personality styles. At Triquetra, our Career Counselor offers the best possible assistance to students in various ways, in choosing subjects, making career-related decisions and guiding students to the right path for successful further education and subsequent professional career.

 

The Careers Counselor provides students with all the information they need, including:

  • Study skills and planning

  • Participation in extra-curricular activities

  • IGCSE subject choices

  • Work experience opportunities

  • Volunteering and summer camp opportunities

  • A-Levels subject choices

  • Workshops with professionals from a range of fields

  • Workshops with university representatives

  • University applications to the UK, USA, Cyprus and other European and non-European countries

  • Guest speakers are invited at appropriate times to talk to students about different careers.

There are a number of factors that affect your career development, including your interests, talents, values, personality, background, and circumstances. Career Counseling is a process that helps you understand and understand yourself and the world of work so that you can make decisions about your career, education, and life. ​

 

Career development is more than just deciding what to major in and what job you want to get when you graduate. It is truly a lifelong process, meaning that you will change throughout your life, situations will change, and you will constantly be forced to make career and life decisions.

 

The goal of Career Counseling is not only to help you make the decisions you need to make now, but also to provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to make future career and life decisions.

What Should I Expect?

    • Help you find resources and sources of career information.

    • Help you determine next steps and develop a plan to achieve your goals.

  • Things a Career Counselor SHOULD NOT Do 

    • Tell you what to do or what you should do or what career you should choose.

    • Give advice on course selection and class hours.

 

Who Needs Career Counseling? 

Because career development is a lifelong process, Career Counseling can be suitable for anyone, including freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, and even graduates. The sooner you start making informed decisions about your future, the better prepared you will be! We encourage students at all levels to make an appointment with our Career Counselor.

Researching Career and Important Choices

Career Awareness Project
