Professional Training

What is Professional Training?

Professional training is defined as the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and experience to work as an expert in a specific field or area of expertise. Another definition of professional training includes technical education provided to a candidate to develop professional competence under the supervision of a competent professional in the field.

What are the Ethical Rules Regarding Professional Education?

According to the American Psychological Association (APA) Ethical Code of Conduct Article 2.03 Maintaining Competence states that psychologists are ethically required to develop and maintain their professional competence as long as they continue to work as psychologists and psychotherapists.

While psychologists and candidates participate in a number of trainings offered by various professionals, the APA Code of Ethical Conduct includes provisions regarding these training and educational programs. According to Article 7.01 Design of Education and Educational Programs, the psychologist serving as an instructor must take reasonable steps to ensure that the training is designed to provide appropriate knowledge and appropriate experiences to meet the goals/claims set by the program. In addition, Article 7.02 Descriptions of Education and Training Programs, the program instructor must ensure that the program description is up-to-date, the program content is accurate, the goals and objectives of the training are clear and concise, all benefits of the program are explained, and the requirements for completing the program are clearly stated. Finally, in Article 7.03 Accuracy in Teaching, the instructor must ensure that the training curriculum is accurate and relevant to the subject taught, clearly state how participants will be evaluated, and the goals/objectives of the course are explained. If any changes are made to the training curriculum, these must be reflected to the participants. In addition, once the training has begun, the instructor must present the information accurately.

Why Does Triquetra Offer Professional Training?

Psychology undergraduate curricula at universities offer basic theoretical components related to the field. Very few programs offer practical training to students at this level. When students graduate with professional titles such as 'psychologist' they do not have many of the basic skills needed for daily practice. If students choose to pursue a master's degree in clinical or counseling psychology, then they will acquire some clinical skills, but due to the time constraints associated with the semester system, the acquired skills are still insufficient. At Triquetra, as we are aware of this situation, our mission is to provide practical professional training and to offer the necessary skills, not only to psychology students but to those studying and working in the field of mental health (psychology, counseling psychology, social work, mental health nursing, etc.) and to those who are new to the profession and who feel they need further development.

At Triquetra, we offer the following professional trainings
